I LOVE this place. The hot dogs are my fav! A little pricey, but they always have coupons online or in the mail. The building is very small so I always take the food home.

Good hot dogs and their cheese is awesome. Burgers weren't the best I've had. But the hot dogs and french fries are awesome.

Now this is a great place!!!!! A little on the costly side but NOT THAT MUCH and the dogs and fries are worth it. The best in the south burbs hands down. There is only one person who makes a better dog and that is the guy writing this post.

I REALLY REALLY want this place to be "WOW" for me... It's not. The french fries are admittedly good they really are. The hot dog itself is good too but, the chili 'n cheese was kind of a let down... I also must mention that I ordered a "JUMBO" hot dog which wasn't all that jumbo... I was expecting something a bit "jumbo'er" than what I got. I see the 4 star reviews and think to myself: "Am I just not getting here at the right time?" "If I was here earlier would the only two ketchup bottles have had more than a tablespoons (combined) worth of ketchup?" "Is this what a "Jumbo" hot dog looks like?" I'm gonna come back in summer, they've got a nice big lot (currently pretty empty) maybe they've got some car shows or something that draws a crowd, maybe the distinctly un-cheesy cheese sauce will be different, maybe the jumbo dogs will have grown up and become real JUMBO dogs... time will tell. Alas... it's still a hot dog stand to me, sorry. SYOY

Hot dog joints are right up my alley, and Don's is a good one. Very good (pork) dog with classic Chicago style classic condiments: mustard, relish, cucumbers, tomato, onion, seasoning and sport peppers. Everything but the poppyseed bun. The fries are crisp, salty and awesome. They offer "Lite" hot dogs and veggie dogs - not for me, but my sister would appreciate the later. The beef is popular and available by the pound for parties. Tasty giardiniera too. Tamale in boats or on a bun... could there be a Mother-in-Law hidden in there somewhere? Pepper & egg sandwich is listed on the menu as a "seasonal" item. If you know exactly what season that is you're a lot like me and would enjoy a visit to Don's.

There wednsday hotdog text special is a steal, and always need my large orange bang to go with. Owner is extremely nice and friendly each visit.

Hot dogs aren't beef (I like beef dogs). Cheese sauce is more cheese whiz. I like to dip my hotdog and fries in nacho cheese! It's okay and close to home.

Don's Hot Dogs/Widen's Hot Dogs - 3 Stars: I think these guys used to be all one in the same (called Jr's), but troubles split up the operations and forced new names. They remain pretty much the same kind of hot dog palace ... nice three star hot dogs and fries. The regular hot dog is sort of a turkey/veal kind of dog, and not an all-beef kind that you'd get at the ballpark (although those are available). The hot dogs are usually boiled and not grilled. Nice dog though, and they offer ones with fewer calories (lights). A ton of different toppings to customize your dogs and these are very nice. Never tried the burgers - a wise man once told me to stick with a restaurants specialty ... you go to a hot dog place you order the hot dog ... so I always get hot dogs here. Fries and cheese fries are nice too - they are plain and simple with no fancy cheese toppings. We eat at both of these often and they really are interchangeable - good and fast hot dog places. Don's @ 151st off Harlem + @ Wolf Road off 179th, and Widen's @ 143rd off LaGrange. This is the oldest of the three outlets - in a standalone building one-half block west of Harlem on 151st Street. Limited seating inside, two short counters facing the windows...also have a few tables out front of the building for outdoor seating when the weather is nice.

If you know what to order, it's delicious: Do: French Fries (very good, well priced), all beef hot dog, onion rings Don't: Normal hot dog (they are a weird pale color), cheese sauce (the cheese sauce is super salty, and not very cheesy).
(3)Jason S.
Dons has a great hot dog & the chili cheese dogs rock! The fish sandwich...awesome. Very generous with fries, fast staff, and the orange whip is so good. Great place for lunch to sit outside and enjoy the day. Great place for lunch & when you don't feel like cooking...dinner from Don's hits the spot. And the cost to eat here is very polite to your wallet. Love it.

Don's Hot Dogs is my favorite hot dog place that I have ever had! Their cheese fries are absolutely my favorite guilty pleasure. Sometimes I indulge and have a regular cheese dog too. My other favorite picks are: Italian Beef Sandwich (they have the best natural juice... it is not oily and you can actually taste the seasonings), cheeseburger (because if you did not already notice I am a sucker for cheese... and because the burger is thin and grilled but big enough to eat just one and be full), breaded chicken sandwich (nice crunch and seasoning), Lite Hotdog (this is a beef hotdog for those who prefer beef over pork... i like them both), and last but absolutely not least... the pepper and egg sandwich (this is absolutely my favorite entree on the menu but sadly they only offer it during Lent.... PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND ADD IT TO THE MENU PERMANENTLY!!!).
(5)Greg D.
I love hot dogs. I love all kinds of hot dogs. Dons hot dogs are pork, not beef. I like the beef hot dogs but prefer the pork. I had 2 dogs and a fry for 5.50. Not a bad price. I powered down the 2 dogs and gave the fries to my youngest. Honest, I did. The hot dogs and buns were both steaming hot and the vegis on the dog were super cold. I have been coming here since they were Jr's. This is still one of the best dogs in the area.
(5)Paul S.
These hot dogs taste very cheap to me. They remind me of Jr's hot dogs - which I also think taste like garbage - however, if you like the one you will like the other. I might grab a sandwich from here, probably not, but never a hot dog.

One of the two little hot dog stands in the area. This one has been around for as long as I can remember. But, I can only remember going here a hand full of times growing up. However, I have went here a couple time recently. I have to say, for a hot dog stand in the far south suburbs here, this place is great. The have a little counter that you can eat at inside, and some picnic-like tables outside if the weather is good. The prices are good. The hot dogs and sausage are good. And the service is good. I'll definitely be stopping at this place more over the summer.
